Crowns and Bridges
A dental crown or a “cap” is a treatment provided to restore or reinforce the tooth. A crown covers the compromised tooth structure and can be made out of a variety of materials including porcelain, zirconia, noble metals, base metals, and gold. Dr. Wadood and her staff can help you decide the best material per your tooth’s condition.
A dental crown can also be used to cover discoloration in your tooth or to reshape your tooth for cosmetic purposes. There are many other reasons why a tooth may need a crown, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask our staff to help you.
A dental bridge is designed to replace a missing tooth that you may have lost due to gum disease, decay, or fractures. A bridge uses the tooth in front and behind the missing space to anchor a fake tooth into place. It is a wonderful option to replace a missing tooth in a shorter amount of time than a dental implant, but it does require manipulation of existing tooth structure. A dental bridge is best if you are missing a single tooth but can sometimes be used to replace two adjacent missing teeth. If you are interested in finding out if a bridge is the right option for you, Dr. Wadood would be happy to discuss this with you.
